Mince pie is a staple Christmas snack in England, consisting of a crumbly pastry shell filled with dried fruits and spices (often called mincemeat). Originally, the pies contained both sweet and savory ingredients such as ground meat, lard, and cheese.
Here's what I do: I put a rack in the bottom of a roasting pan. Then I place the roast (no rubs or seasonings) on the rack and cover it with a lid. I put it in the oven at 400° for 15 or 20 minutes, then turn it down to 325° and roast for 30 minutes per pound. All it does is end up tough, chewy, and well-done.

Cooking Frozen RoastBeef, pork and lamb roasts are safe to cook from the frozen state. Remove a frozen roast from the oven, and cook it in the oven or on the stovetop as you would normally cook a roast. The higher the temperature, the more they shrink. All in all, you could end up with a mushy or tough pot roast if you cook it too long. Longer than that and you're risking food poisoning, but 2 hours is generally considered safe. This gives you a 10-hour window, which is more reasonable. This for beef and pork, red meats. Chicken doesn't get tough--it cooks into paste.
The only difference between the HIGH and LOW setting on a slow cooker is the amount of time it takes to reach the simmer point, or temperature at which the contents of the appliance are being cooked at.
